GOAL
To present a curriculum-related program
of libary media instruction so that students will become
capable of successful, independent research.
To promote responsible library citizenship
that emphasizes proper care of materials and respect for
the rights of others.
To provide a broad variety of library
media that are current, well organized, and easily accessible.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of
the Good Shepherd library program is to ensure that the
students and staff are effective users of ideas and information
along with instilling an endearing love and interest for
reading.
The number of books and other
materials students may check out varies with their grade:

This circulation
policy is flexible and exceptions can always be made
when extra materials are needed for class assignments
and other research needs.
Parents of GSS students may borrow
materials from the school library. A patron account
must be established. Books may be checked out for one
week only.
Books may be checked out for
one week and may be renewed twice for grades 1-5.
Grades 6-8 may check books our for two weeks with
two renewals as long as there are no holds pending.
Books must be in-hand on order
to be renewed.
Overdue notices are printed
and delivered to the teachers to be included in the
weekly take home folder.
Each borrower is personally
responsible for the materials charged out in his/her
name. Lost or severely damages books will be charged
the current replacement cost plus a $2.00 non-refundable
processing fee. Invoices for lost books are mailed
to the student's home. There will be a $5.00 charge
for minor damage or defacing of any library material.
The
library is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday
thru Friday. Students have access to six fully networked
computers. Our collection includes approximately 9,000
volumes of books, magazines, videos, and cds.
The students at GSS have access
to the library throughout the week and after school.
All classes visit the library once a week to select
books and have a lesson on informational skills, library
use, and literature appreciation. Additional reference
times are available to students for research as a class
or on an individual basis.

the students, we also strive to meet the classroom teaching
needs of our faculty by suggesting and locating appropriate
books and materials that correlate with the classroom
curriculum.
